She is placed under the control of the German Nazis, like most orthodox Jews, through Adolf Hitler's "Final Solution." Only those with unwavering strength will survive. Sara and Jake eventually cross paths, enriching the plot and further describing Greece during World War II. Dahl's inspiration to write this book came from a recurring dream he had while recovering in the intensive care unit from carotid surgery. After putting his dream on paper, Dahl believes that "Let the White Doves Soar" has all the essential elements of an epic enthralling story: action, drama, history, culture, romance and suspense. "This compelling story takes readers back into a tragic time," Dahl said. "It shows them bravery at its strongest during a violent, ruthless era." Readers will learn about World War II history as they get to know the characters and their individual experiences in the novel.
