Andrea Sheldon is nervous about her husband's return home after serving five years in prison for vehicular homicide while he was under the influence of alcohol. Their marriage had not been idyllic, but she hopes things will turn around now. John, too, is apprehensive; he is coming back as a different man, with a new faith and determination. In this beautifully written novel of second chances, Tatlock ("All the Way Home"; "I'll Watch the Moon") applies her considerable skill as a novelist to paint an unconventional, poignant story of a family's rebirth. This book is an essential read for all who enjoy multilayered, compelling family drama and will appeal to fans of Anne Tyler or Linda Nichols. Highly recommended for all collections.
